WHAT DO I WEAR?
We invite you to wear what makes you feel the most comfortable while moving. We don’t have a specific dress code for any of our classes. Generally, loose fitting clothing and sweats are popular in our hip hop and k-pop classes, but are also sometimes worn in jazz, tap and contemporary. Some dancers like to wear more form fitting athletic wear, which is also acceptable. Leotards are also welcome. If you like the less clothing vibes, we just ask that exercise some modesty since we might have students younger than 18 taking our classes.
Click here to see a variety of the outfits that can be seen in our space! Basically - you do you!
WHAT ABOUT FOOTWEAR?
Tennis shoes are the most common for hip hop and k-pop classes, and even tap classes if you don’t own a pair of tap shoes yet! For jazz, contemporary, lyrical, or ballet, you could wear jazz shoes, ballet shoes, socks, or even barefoot! For any heels class, wear heels that you feel confident and safe in. For your safety, we don’t ever recommend sandals or other shoes that don’t give you a good grip so you don’t put yourself at risk of injury.
Pro tip: for a class you're unsure of what to do, bring all your footwear options so you can check the vibe and grab what you need!
Extra Pro Tip: If you have knee pads, always bring them with you in case some classes explore extensive floor work.
WHERE DO I FIND THE CLASS SCHEDULE?
We always post the weekly schedule on instagram @racedanceco and the rest of the monthly schedule can be found at www.racedance.com/take-a-class.
WHAT CLASSES DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR BEGINNERS?
We realize that sometimes there’s a gray area in our beginner classes for true beginners and beginners with experience. While all beginner classes are an option for you, we recommend checking in with our front desk staff or emailing our studio manager here to get better recommendations of different teachers who will fit your dance goals the best.
I USED TO DANCE BUT ITS BEEN AWHILE, WHAT CLASSES DO YOU RECOMMEND?
We definitely recommend trying any beginner class first just to check in with where you are in your abilities! If you feel good about how that class went, you can sign up for intermediate levels, or ask our front desk staff for specific recommendations on other classes that you could try!
DO I NEED TO SIGN UP AHEAD OF TIME?
Signing up ahead of time is always helpful in ensuring you get a spot in class (and you can cancel if you can’t make it) but walk-ins are always welcome. Online registration closes 15 minutes prior to the start of classes.
DO I NEED TO BE 18 YEARS OLD?
While our classes are catered to adults, we do have a space for younger dancers wanting to take classes! Of our class offerings, Heels and Body Language do require you to be at least 18 due the class content.
DO YOU HAVE CLASSES FOR CHILDREN?
Not at this time. We are primarily cater to young adults - adults only.
ARE YOU OPEN DURING SEVERE WEATHER?
We put everyone’s safety first when it comes to Oklahoma’s questionable weather. We do our best to make a call no later than 4pm the day of, and will post on our social media to confirm any studio closings. If you had registered for class, you will be refunded!
DO YOU HAVE FREE PARKING?
We sure do!
WHAT IS THE SONG FOR TONIGHTS KPOP CLASS?
We are at the mercy of our teachers, so as soon as they post their song, we will share it to our social media platforms, so be sure to follow us @racedanceco!
RACE Dance Collective is one of 112 recipients of an ArtsHERE grant for RACE the Space programming, which was received with consulting support from Oklahoma Arts Management Solutions. This new pilot program from the National Endowment for the Arts aims to strengthen organizations’ capacity for community engagement and boost arts participation for underserved groups and communities across the country.
As of May 31, 2025, this anticipated two-year project was terminated, totaling a loss of $65,000 in anticipated funds. Despite this abrupt loss of funding, RACE remains committed to its studio programming initiatives. If you want to help support our mission, please consider donating.
